GLUCOSAMINE, CHONDROITIN SHULPHATE AND MSM AS JOINT SUPPLEMENTS.

As a Dog parent it can be concerning to see your beloved furry pal not able to move freely with the growing age. There can be many reasons for that some normal and some can be associated with a disease. One of those reasons can be joint pain.

Joints pain can be due to illness or inflammation in joints and low production of glycosaminoglycan responsible for repair of damaged body tissues like cartilage. Glycosaminoglycan is produced by a substance called Glucosamine and with the growing age the presence of this substance in the body decreases. As a result the joints become stiff causing pain when the joints are moved.

Glucosamine (C6H13NO5)

Regular wear and tear and slow repair leads your pooch’s joints to a health condition to arthritis. Hence, it is important to maintain the amount of glucosamine present in the body and fortunately, glucosamine can be given to your pooch externally as well.

Beneficial properties of Glucosamine

  • It can reduce the usage of NSAIDS as reduces the pain and repairs joints. Unlike NSAIDS that only reduces pain and causes some serious side effects.
  • Very good for the cartilage repair.
  • Anti-inflammatory effect helps in reducing joint pain.
  • Helps in increasing mobility by improving joint health.
  • Reduces friction and acts as lubrication.
  • Since it is readily accepted by the body, it causes very rare side effects.
  • When given with Chondroitin sulfate it treats the pain and loss of function associated with (OA) osteoarthritis.
  • Can be given with other supplements as well.

Chondroitin Sulphat , MSM And Glucosamine Together In A Supplement

To get quick and satisfactory results we need to add Chondroitin sulphate (C13H21NO15S) and MSM (Methylsulphynolmethane- (CH3)2SO2) to the supplement.

      Chondroitin sulphate

MSM

Chondroitin is also a naturally occurring substance in your dog’s cartilage and is also very good for the joint health when clubbed with glucosamine.

MSM is a sulfur chemical compound present in the body that looks after the joint flexibility. It also reduces pain and inflammation in joints if given as a supplement.

These joint supplements can/should be given to your pooch throughout his/her life. However, if the supplements are discontinued the joint pain can recur. Hence, it is recommended to keep your dog on the supplements.

Also, with the supplements, make sure that your dog exercises every day. This will be a habit to keep his joints healthy.

So, now you know what to do when your pooch is not able to move freely or suffering from joint pain. If you’re a parent of a young dog, it would be great to take care of his joints from now. Start feeding the food that supports healthy joints and you can also start giving supplements to make sure the joints are healthy.
